''Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) '' Approval Implementation
●    The Union Cabinet has approved the 'Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF)' scheme of total cost of Rs 1650 crore for the period 2018-19 to 7 years.
●    The Prime Minister has emphasized on the importance of innovative experiments and technology for the progress and development of the nation.
●    This fellowship plan is important in fulfilling the dream of development through the innovation of the Prime Minister.
●    This scheme was announced in budget speech 2018-19.
Approval for ONGC and OIL 60 non-monetary discoveries
●    The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for extending the Discovered Small Field Policy notified on 14.10.2015 to identified 60 discovered small fields / un-monetized discoveries for offer under the Discovered Small Field Policy Bid Round-ll. 
●    Out of these, 22 fields/ discoveries belong to of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited, 5 belong to Oil India Limited (OIL) and 12 are relinquished fields / discoveries from the New Exploration and Licensing Policy (NELP) Blocks. 
●    In addition, 21 fields / discoveries are remaining from DSF Bid Round-l which were put on offer but could not be awarded due to insufficient response from the investor.

Approval of Diwali and Bankruptcy Bill, 2017
●    In the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has given retrospective approval to the changes made in the Substitution Bill.
●    This bill replaced the Diwali and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill 2017 and has been passed by the Parliament as Diwali and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Act, 2018.
●    This amendment will bring clarity and will ensure that such a non-intelligent person is not included in the settlement process of the insolvent corporate person and the person whose account is classified as an unproductive asset is given equal opportunity.
National meeting on Grassroot Informatics
●    National security, economic prosperity, innovation and social welfare are largely dependent on availability, authenticity and confidentiality of information technology.
●    The daily life of citizens has changed greatly from information revolution and modern life depends on the timely, fair and confidential behavior of cyberspace.
Nitin Gadkari inaugurated five highway projects
●    The Union Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated the cost of Rs. 5632 crore and 137 km long highway projects in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
●    In addition to widening the national highways, the construction of a new six-lane bridge on Ganga river in Phaphmau, Allahabad is also included.

Neelam Kapoor took charge as DG of Sports Authority of India

●    Ms. Neelam Kapoor has assumed charge as the Director General of Sports Authority of India today.
●    He is the official of the Indian Information Service of 1982 batch, before he has held important positions in the National AIDS Control Organization and has also been head of the Directorate of Film Festival, Directorate of Audio and Visual Publicity and Regional Publicity Directorate.
●    During his tenure of the Director General of the Papers Information Office, Ms. Neelam Kapoor was also the Chief of the Media Operations of the Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi in 2010.
RBI to bring Lokpal to NBFC customers
●    The Reserve Bank announced the launch of mechanism such as 'Lokpal' for the customers of non-banking financial companies, which will come into existence by the end of this month.
●    If there is a complaint from borrowers from these financial companies, they will be able to directly approach their Lokpal and thus their grievances will be disposed off soon.
●    Initially this scheme will be implemented for NBFCs who accept all the deposits.

21 leopards missing from Sanjay Gandhi National Park
●    According to a report published by Maharashtra Forest Department and Wildlife Conservation Committee , 21 leopards have been missing from Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai .
●    According to the figures given in the report, the number of leopards increased to 41 in 2017 while in the park there were only 35 leopards in 2015.
●    According to the new survey, only 14 of the leopards are leopards in the park.

Acceptance of Memorandum of Agreement with UK and Northern Ireland

●    The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with UK and Northern Ireland on cooperation in skill development, vocational education and training.
●    This Memorandum of Understanding will lead to a path to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of vocational education and training and skill development.
●    Cooperating with foreign countries will help strengthen Indian skills eco-system and enable youth to be efficient for better employment prospects.
Approval to sign bilateral cooperation memorandum between India and the US
●    Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the signing of a bilateral cooperation memorandum between India and the US for law enforcement training.
●    This cooperation memorandum will be signed between the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the Bureau of Indian Police Research and Development Bureau.
●    This cooperation memorabilia will lead to an increase in the cooperation between the two countries under the auspices of the India-US Homeland Security Dialogue.

Indo-China Protocol Approved

●    The Union Cabinet has approved the signature and confirmation of the protocol to amend the agreement between India and China to avoid double taxation and prevent fiscal consolidation in the tax on income.
●    In addition to other changes, this protocol makes the information sharing provisions updated according to international standards.
Approval of India Australia Memorandum for Cooperation Program

●    Union Cabinet has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for a 3-month co-operation program between the Department of Economic Affairs and the Treasury of the Australian Government.
●    Under the program, an official of Treasury of Australia Government will be transferred to the Department of Economic Affairs, Finance Ministry and an officer of the Indian Economic Service named by the Economic Affairs Department of the Economic Affairs Department will be transferred to the Treasury of the Government of Australia.

Denmark in preparation for ban on Islamic burqa and hijab
●    The Danish government is preparing to ban the wearing of women's burqas in the country.
●    The government will prohibit the wearing of such clothes of women in public places, where the face is covered completely.
●    According to the Independent's report, the government says that we are considering introducing a proposal to ban wearing of burqa or hijab in public places.
●    Those who do this on public place will have to pay a fine.
Sushma Swaraj meets Shah of Saudi Arabia
●    External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met Saudi Arabia's Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Wednesday.

Framework for Start-Up India Ranking
●    Union Commerce and Industry Minister today issued three standards for states and federal territories in New Delhi to get the ranking of the rank-ups.
●    These are the standard- the start-up ranking framework for the state and federal region, collection of best practices for encouraging the uptake in India and the start-up India kit.
●    There are around 20,000 startups in India and about 1,400 new start ups start every year.
Ministry of Railways signs MoU with AYUSH Ministry
●    Ministry of Railways and Ministry of AYUSH has decided to promote AYUSH facilities in the central and north-east marginal railway, Eastern Railway, Perambur Railway, South Railway.
●    A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Ayush in New Delhi today for this, in which under the new Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Guwahati regional hospitals, AYUSH services will be promoted.
Unmarried daughter will get property equal to son
●    Yogi Sarkar has taken important steps towards women empowerment.

Tata Motors net profit up 10x

●    China has made the world's highest 'air purifiers' to reduce air pollution in Xi'an city.
●    Work on this project started in 2015.
●    The height of this purifier is 330 feet.

●    This purifiers tower is quite like a fireplace. The width of the tower is equal to half the football ground.
●    This tower is producing clean air every day 10 million cubic meters (353 million cubic feet).

New project approved to control river pollution
●    The Central Government approved the new project to control pollution of the year in Navalin city of Goa.
●    This project was approved by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under the National River Conservation Scheme and its cost would be Rs. 61.74 crore.
●    Both the central government and the state government will share the cost based on the ratio of 60:40.
●    Under this project, a sewer of approximately 32 km will be added and 3 million liters per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant will be constructed.
●    This project is scheduled to be completed by January, 2021.

BSNL will shut down free Sunday calling on landline
●    Government Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has decided to end Sunday free voice calling on landline from 1st February.

NASA to launch Gold mission

●    The American Space Agency said on Wednesday that it is NASA's first mission under which it will send some equipment commercially in space.

●    American Space Agency NASA said that its satellite, which was deemed inactive for decades, disappeared for decades, it is true and active.

●    America's 'Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab' has successfully collected telemetry data from the satellite.

●    A web based Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) has been launched in the monitoring of the Controller General of Accounts, in order to improve budgeting, accounting, expenditure and cash management.
●    All information related to purchase on the Central Public Purchase Portal will be available in one place.

Customs increased on mobile phones and TV components
●    There is a wide scope for domestic value addition in certain areas such as food processing, electronics, auto components, footwear and furniture.
●    Keeping this in view, the Finance Minister has proposed to reduce the customs duty on raw cashews from 5% to 2.5% with the aim of helping the cashew processing industry.

●    Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding for financial assistance for two big solar parks in Madhya Pradesh today.
●    To achieve the goal of achieving the additional solar capacity of 100 GHz by Narendra Modi, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, World Bank and IREDA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 100 million US Dollars Has shown the way to the proposal.
●    Under World Bank loan assistance, IREDA has approved the first loan of Rs 210.62 crore to RUMSL for the construction of two such solar parks in Madhya Pradesh.

Airports Authority of India allocated Rs 3400 crore for the development of airports in the North-East

●    The Airports Authority of India has allocated Rs 3,400 crore for the development and upgradation of airports in the North Eastern Region.
●    In 2016-17, the total number of passengers on this region's airports was 68.04 lakh. Last year it recorded an increase of 27.02%.
●    The Airports Authority of India has allocated Rs 1,720 crore for Assam, Rs 525 crore for Tripura, Rs 800 crore for Manipur, Rs 42 crore for Nagaland, Rs 211 crore for Arunachal Pradesh and Rs 60 crore for Mizoram.

●    In this system, the profile of 1 million 48 lakh students studying in all government and private educational institutions of the state has been made online.

Launch of test kit to check for adulteration of ammonia and formaldehyde in fish

●    Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister for Agriculture and Kisan Welfare, launched KIT - Quick Test Kit (Systest), a chemical detection or spraying kit in fishes developed by the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology Kochi.
●    Ammonia and formaldehyde are used to prevent fishes from deteriorating quickly and to eliminate slippery in the snow.
●    The probe kit detects the presence of both chemicals in fish.

Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation for Ghazipur Inter-Model Terminal

●    Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation for inter-terminal terminal in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
●    The construction of this terminal at a cost of Rs.155 crore is being done by the Indian Inland Waterways Authority (IWAI) as part of the World Bank Assisted Water Road Development Project.
●    This construction is being done on Ganga or NW-1.
●    Its goal is to increase the river's navigational capacity.

Six million toilets were built under Swachh Bharat Mission

●    Swachh Bharat Mission is the world's largest program of change in behavior or attitudes of people.
●    Under this mission more than 60 million toilets have been constructed in rural India.

Ministry of Women and Child Development today launched a quick information system for the scheme of the girls.

●    Secretary of Women and Child Development, Shri Rakesh Srivastava today launched the first phase of a quick information system (RRS) in relation to the plans of the girls here.
●    It is a web based online surveillance system that will monitor the plans for the teenager.
●    This portal has been developed in collaboration with National Informatics Center (NIC).
●    Under this scheme, aims to provide nutritional support to the girls at the rate of Rs 9.50 per day for 300 days in a year.

Ayush Minister laid the foundation stone of Homeopathy Research Institute in Jaipur

●    Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs Shripad Yaso Naik laid the foundation stone of the Homeopathy Research Institute in Jaipur on January 22, 2018.
●    This will be the third research institution, which will work under the Central Homeopathy Research Council. CCRH is an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH, which works for scientific research in the field of homeopathy with 23 institutions across the country.
●    While addressing the fundraising ceremony, Shri Naik said that the AYUSH Ministry has been paying special attention to the structural development of other methods of other AYUSH including Homeopathy.

●    Ministry of External Affairs has decided that the existing method of printing the last page of passport will be continued.
●    It has also been decided that a separate passport with orange cover will not be issued for the ECR passport holders.
●    Some time ago the ministry had decided that the last page of the passport booklet will not be printed.

PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate the first Hindu temple of Abu Dhabi

●    PM Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
●    During the visit to Palestine, UAE and Oman from February 9 to 12, PM Modi will participate in this program.
●    At present, there is only one Hindu temple in the UAE, which is located in Dubai.
●    During the visit of PM Modi in 2015, the UAE government announced the allocation of land for the construction of a temple in Abu Dhabi.

At Taj Man Singh Hotel Auction, fewer agencies came in

●    After finishing the Lease Period of Taj Man Singh Hotel, NDMC has announced the online auction to give the hotel license to any other company.
●    The hotel will be auctioned online on January 30, but till now only three-four companies have applied to participate in this auction.
●    The issue of participation of so few companies in the auction was raised in the meeting, on which it was decided that the number of agencies in the process should not be delayed.
●    As many agencies have participated in this process, the further process will be started along with them.

●    Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Shri Arun Jaitley presented the Economic Survey 2017-18 on the Table of Parliament today.
●    In the Economic Survey 2017-18, a specific state-wise comparison of private sector performance in India has been shown.
●    Out of 32 States and Union Territories (UTs), the performance of service sector was found to be the best in 15 states and Union Territories, which contributed more than half of the Gross State Value Added (GSVA).
●    In most states, major services were business, hotels and restaurants, followed by real estate, housing and ownership of business.

●    Cpl Mehta disregarding personal safety, displayed indomitable courage while assisting in the evacuation of his buddy Corporal Nirala who was critically injured in the gun fight and took over the LMG to retaliate in order to neutralise the six terrorists.

Finance Minister Present Economic Survey 2017-18 in Parliament 

●    A series of major reforms undertaken over the past year will allow real GDP growth to reach 6.75 percent this fiscal and will rise to 7.0 to 7.5 percent in 2018-19.
●    This was stated in the Economic Survey 2017-18 tabled in Parliament today by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley. 
●    It said that the reform measures undertaken in 2017-18 can be strengthened further in 2018-19.

GST data reveals 50% increase in number of Indirect Taxpayers 

●    A preliminary analysis of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) data reveals that there has been a 50% increase in the number of indirect taxpayers.
●    There were 9.8 million unique GST registrants.

Rs 20,339 Crore Approved for Interest Subvention in 2017-18

●    Rs.20,339 crore has been approved by the Government in 2017-18 to meet various obligations arising from interest subvention being provided to the farmers on short term crop loans.
●    This was stated in the Economic Survey 2017-18 tabled by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley in the Parliament.

In the year 2016-17, coconut products worth Rs.2084 crore has been exported

●    Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh said that the Coconut Development Board (CDB) major schemes are focusing on coconut production, productivity, processing for coconut products, value addition, marketing, and export promotion in Bihar. 
●    The Minister said this on the occasion of the inauguration of the Farmers’ Training Centre cum Regional Office Building of Coconut Development Board in Patna.
●    The Minister said that India is leading in the global coconut production and productivity.
●    He said that the annual coconut production is 2395 crore from 20.82 lakh hectare and the productivity is 11505 coconuts/hectare.
